About:

“CIEGASORDAMUDA” treats themes of fame, misplacement, and incongruence in terms of the political exploitation of a celebrity figure in relation to immigration in the United States.

Description:

Created for the AriZONA Exhibition, “CIEGASORDOMUDA” is a two channel video installation that explores the recent involvement of the Colombian singer, Shakira, opposing the signing of Arizona’s Immigration Bill. Using appropriated music videos, and open source mapping technology, the project consists of two small flat screen monitors. One of them displays the singer’s interviews and appearances mixed with one of her older music videos (when she was a brunette) while the other, using GPS Google Technology, tracks the US-Mexican border from San Diego, California, in the West, to Brownsville, Texas, in the East.
