In celebration of Waterpod's last week, and its docking at the Queens' historical marina, the artist was invited to participate in the creation of a project. Working directly with Ian Daniels, curator of Waterpod™, Canonge created "LATITUDE . S," a walk-performance with public workshops, and live outdoor projections where narratives based on the writings of Latin American authors exploring Utopias are mixed with real time people's presence while visiting the Pod.

DESCRIPTION & FUNCTIONALITY:
“LATITUDE . S ” constitutes a multimedimensional project with a walk performance (Friday, Sept 25) where the artist Hector Canonge, wearing an environmental suit, departed from the World's Fair Marina to be at Flushing Meadows Park inviting people of the community of to participate in a visual workshop onboard Waterpod™ (Sat. Sept 26). The public workshops allow people to build, draw, and sketch their versions of Utopic worlds, imagined cities, villages of hope, and sustainable environments using eco-friendly materials. The project culminatee with an evening outdoor live projection (Sat. Sept 26) where narratives based on the writings of Latin American authors exploring Utopias were mixed with real time people's presence while visiting the Pod.
